Generally, most brands use flat-pressed barcode ribbons for flat-pressed print heads, while a small number of Japanese brands use edge-pressed barcode ribbons for edge-pressed print heads.
A good barcode ribbon can protect the print head, and the effect produced can be accurately attached to the paper, not easy to spread, and not easy to fall off. barcode ribbons can be simply divided into the following three types according to their material classification:
Wax ribbon
A product with wax and carbon black (assuming it is black ribbon) as the main materials and coating materials. Wax ribbon is the most economical and cheapest ribbon, mainly used for printing on general paper. When using wax ribbon, you must pay attention to the matching with the paper. Wax ribbon is suitable for materials with slightly uneven surface feel, and is not suitable for materials with smooth mirror-like surface such as PET products. Wax ribbon accounts for about 70% of the market share and is a common product for printing large paper labels such as machettes.
Resin ribbon
If the printed material must be resistant to solvents and high temperatures, used for chemical product packaging, or must be resistant to high temperatures, used in the heating parts of electrical appliances, or must be printed on special chemical products such as PET, it is recommended to use resin ribbon, because the composition of the resin can meet the above requirements, but this type of ribbon is usually more expensive, but the printing effect must still be matched with paper/printing media to achieve the best printing level.
Wax ribbon（Mix）
It is a product with wax and resin mixed as the main materials and used as coating materials. The mixing ratio varies according to needs. It is mainly used for materials with smoother surfaces. Generally, it is more suitable for products with strict surface requirements, such as the labeling of ordinary consumable products. Its performance is made by combining the advantages of the above two types of ribbons.
Application of barcode ribbon
Applicable occasions: ordinary labels; shipping, warehouse and receiving labels; shell and packaging labels; shipping and address labels; retail labels and tags; clothing labels: electronic labels
Applicable media: coated paper labels and tags (thermal transfer paper, ordinary coated paper)
